Conditions of Service for Local Waste Collection

Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Big Man provides waste collection and rubbish removal services. They apply to all customers using our services within the waste collection service area, including domestic, commercial, and trade clients. By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Please read this document carefully. It explains the booking process, payment terms, cancellation rights, responsibilities of both parties, and the legal framework governing our services.

About Big Man

Big Man operates as a professional waste collection and rubbish removal provider. We deliver services in compliance with UK waste regulations and operate as a licensed waste carrier. Our services are offered subject to availability and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Scope of Services

Big Man provides waste collection services including, but not limited to, household rubbish removal, bulky item collection, builders waste removal, garden waste removal, office clearance, and same-day services where available.

Services are provided as agreed at the time of booking. Any additional work or waste not included in the original agreement may result in additional charges or refusal to collect such waste.

Booking Process

Bookings can be made following receipt of a quotation provided by Big Man. A booking is considered confirmed once we have accepted the request and agreed a date and time window for collection.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about the type, quantity, and location of waste. This includes details about access, parking restrictions, stairs, lifts, or any other factors that may affect the service.

Big Man reserves the right to amend or withdraw a quotation if information provided is incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading.

Pricing and Quotations

All quotations are based on the information provided by the customer at the time of enquiry. Prices typically reflect volume, weight, labour, access conditions, and disposal costs.

Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for a limited period. Prices may be subject to change if waste quantities increase, access conditions differ, or additional services are requested.

Payment Terms

Payment is required in accordance with the terms agreed at the time of booking. Accepted payment methods may include card payment, bank transfer, or other approved methods.

Payment is typically due upon completion of the service unless otherwise agreed in writing. Big Man reserves the right to withhold service where payment arrangements have not been confirmed.

Failure to make payment when due may result in additional charges and may affect future bookings.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Customers may cancel or reschedule a booking by providing reasonable notice. Cancellation terms may vary depending on the nature of the service and notice period given.

Where a cancellation occurs at short notice or access is not available at the agreed time, Big Man reserves the right to charge a cancellation or attendance fee to cover costs incurred.

If Big Man is unable to attend due to circumstances beyond our control, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the service.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers must ensure that waste is accessible at the agreed time and that safe access is available for our team and vehicles. This includes arranging parking permissions or permits where required.

Customers are responsible for identifying and excluding any items that are not permitted for collection, including hazardous or restricted waste, unless specifically agreed in advance.

Big Man may refuse to remove waste that is unsafe, unlawful, or not as described without liability.

Restricted and Prohibited Waste

Certain waste types cannot be collected without prior agreement or may not be accepted at all. These may include hazardous waste, asbestos-containing materials, chemicals, medical waste, and other regulated substances.

Customers must declare any potentially hazardous items in advance. Failure to do so may result in refusal of service and additional charges.

Waste Regulations and Compliance

Big Man operates in accordance with UK waste legislation and Duty of Care requirements. All waste collected is transported to authorised facilities for disposal, recycling, or recovery.

Ownership of waste transfers to Big Man once it has been collected, subject to lawful handling and disposal. Customers confirm that they have the legal right to dispose of the waste presented for collection.

Health and Safety

Big Man takes health and safety seriously and operates safe working practices. Our team may refuse to carry out work where conditions are deemed unsafe.

Customers must inform us of any known risks on site, including fragile surfaces, confined spaces, or hazards that could affect safe waste collection.

Damage and Liability

Big Man holds appropriate insurance for the services we provide. We will take reasonable care when removing waste; however, we are not responsible for pre-existing damage or issues caused by poor access or unsafe conditions.

Any claims for damage must be reported promptly and, where possible, before our team leaves the site. Liability is limited to the extent permitted by law.

Limitations of Liability

Big Man shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profits or business interruption.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any matter which cannot be limited by law.

Delays and Force Majeure

Big Man shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform services due to events beyond our reasonable control. This may include severe weather, traffic disruption, breakdowns, or other unforeseen circumstances.

In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to rearrange the service.

Changes to Services

Big Man reserves the right to make reasonable changes to services where necessary to comply with legal requirements or improve operational efficiency.

Any material changes affecting a booking will be communicated to the customer where practicable.

Complaints and Disputes

We aim to provide a high standard of service. If you are dissatisfied, you should raise the issue as soon as possible so we can investigate and seek to resolve the matter.

Complaints will be handled fairly and promptly in accordance with our internal procedures.

Data Protection

Personal data provided by customers is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Information is used only for the purposes of providing services and managing our business operations.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms and Conditions or the services provided by Big Man shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Acceptance of Terms

By booking or using Big Man’s waste collection services within the service area, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions form the entire agreement between the customer and Big Man in relation to the services provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

We plan, pack, transport and unload with clear steps--so your house removals run smoothly from start to finish. After an initial chat, our team confirms the route, access points (stairs, lifts, parking) and what's staying or leaving. On the day, trained movers use protective blankets, lifting straps and secure load restraint to reduce risk. If you need packing, we use eco rating practices and sturdy, reuse-friendly materials. Then we unpack in the rooms you choose, and we'll show you photos of key items before leaving. You also get transparent communication around timing, turnaround and any access constraints.

Yes--our packing approach is designed to be practical and responsible. Over 87% of packing materials and transport methods are eco-friendly and low-emission, and we aim to minimise waste wherever we can. If you're in London, we can use washable/returnable protection, plus reusable packing boxes and wrapping suited to furniture transport. After your move, we'll advise on what can be kept, reused or taken for recycling through local council services, rather than throwing everything away. That's helpful when you're moving from flats near places like Victoria or along busier roads. If you'd like, ask our team about a low-waste packing plan during your quote.

We don't rely on guesswork--our movers bring the right tools and use proven methods for every job. Expect protective blankets, corner protectors, strong straps and appropriate dollies/trolleys for safe handling. For heavier items, we secure loads properly in the vehicle so nothing shifts during transit. Where access is tight, we plan the best carry route from the front door to rooms, and we'll confirm lift access, stair widths and any fragile sections such as glass units. In short, you get careful furniture transport with the practical habits you'd want from a reputable man and van or moving company.

For your peace of mind, our removals service uses fully insured, DBS-checked and trained movers. That means background-checked staff and a safety-first approach when we're handling your home, office or personal belongings. During training, the focus is on careful lifting, protection for floors and door frames, secure vehicle loading and respectful conduct in residential boroughs. If you're moving in London with shared entrances, lifts or concierge systems, this discipline matters even more. You'll also find we communicate clearly about what's being packed, what's going in which room and how long each stage should take. This is why customers feel confident on moving day.

Insurance is part of how we operate, not a last-minute option. We are fully insured, and that means you're covered for the risks that can happen during professional removals--such as damage resulting from transit handling. Our team also uses protective blankets and secure straps to reduce those risks from the outset. If you're moving between boroughs or dealing with narrow staircases, we'll talk through the approach before we start, so nothing surprises you. For peace of mind, we'll confirm the plan for fragile items (like mirrors, TVs and glass-top tables) and any special handling needs.

Getting a quote is usually straightforward, and we'll base it on what actually affects time and effort. Key factors include the distance, number of rooms, whether you need packing, any bulky furniture transport, and access details like parking permits, lift availability or restricted loading bays. Also consider stairs, long carries and whether there's a need to move items through communal hallways. We'll ask about what's staying, what's going and any sensitive items so we can plan the right equipment and manpower. Call our team, share a few details and we'll give you a clear, fair pricing view before moving day--no vague surprises.

Yes--we help with office moves, not just house removals. That can include packing, furniture transport, and safe relocation of desks, chairs, shelves and equipment. If your business needs staged timing (for example, after-hours access or a short transition window), we'll plan the safest approach around your site rules. We also make sure items are labelled and handled carefully, so your team can set up faster after arrival. If you're working around London boroughs, we can coordinate the logistics so you're not disrupting foot traffic or essential operations. Ask during your enquiry and we'll suggest a practical moving plan to fit your workflow.

Absolutely--busy streets require extra planning, even for experienced removals. For example, if you're moving near King's Cross or along busy arterial routes where loading bays are limited, we'll confirm the closest practical stopping point and carry route. We also check whether there's a need for parking arrangements, careful floor protection in corridors, and whether a lift booking is required for the building. On arrival, protective blankets go down first and we use lifting straps and corner guards for delicate pieces. Then we coordinate the sequence so the heaviest items don't block narrower sections. It's a simple process, but it's what prevents delays.

We provide professional removals across London and nearby boroughs, helping people move in everyday neighbourhoods--not just the easiest postcode spots. Common areas include: Camden (NW1), Islington (N1), Hackney (E8), Tower Hamlets (E1), Greenwich (SE10), Lewisham (SE13), Southwark (SE1), Lambeth (SE11), Westminster (SW1), Kensington and Chelsea (W8), Hammersmith and Fulham (W6), and Wandsworth (SW11). If you're unsure whether we cover your street, ask our team--we'll confirm quickly based on access and timing. Experience matters here, and we're trusted for over 12 years of professional removals and relocation services.

Clients frequently mention familiar spots like Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Regent's Park, especially when they're moving to apartments nearby. We also regularly plan carry routes around busy areas like Oxford Street corridors (where loading access can be restricted) and along routes close to Battersea Park. Depending on your exact location, we may need to use a different stopping point, protect floors in reception areas, and schedule the move to avoid congestion. We're used to coordinating around real-world constraints such as lift times, concierge policies and narrow passageways. Tell us your starting point and destination and we'll build the safest, simplest plan for your move.

After your move, you'll usually have options beyond landfill. If you used packing boxes and protective wrap, keep anything in good condition for your own storage or a future move. If you're in London, many boroughs provide recycling and reuse guidance through council websites, including what can be taken to recycling centres. If you tell us your borough, we can point you toward the relevant council service that typically accepts clean cardboard, certain plastics and paper-based packing. For large items, ask whether you can hand over reusable materials to friends or local reuse groups. That way, your move stays considerate to your home and your neighbourhood.

We combine practical training with recognised safety expectations. Our DBS-checked movers follow the highest safety standards on every job, and we work in line with UK transport, safety and handling regulations. Where relevant, we align our processes with guidance from professional trade expectations, including SafeContractor-style safety principles and best practice used across the British removals industry. You'll see this in how we secure loads, protect floors and use straps and blankets for vulnerable furniture transport. If you have specific concerns--like glass-top tables, antiques or large wardrobes--we'll adapt our approach. It's one reason customers mention our reliability and careful handling in verified feedback.

We've helped thousands of customers with relocations, and that experience shows in the day-to-day details. Over 12 years of professional removals and relocation services, plus a track record of 6700+ successful moves completed locally. Customers often tell us they feel looked after because we turn up prepared, protect items properly and communicate clearly. Before we start, we'll agree the approach and confirm the equipment needed; on request, we can also capture photos before and after key stages for peace of mind. Our reputation is backed by five-star feedback, Rated 4.7 stars from 989+ verified reviews. You can also view more customer comments through sources like Google Reviews, Trustpilot and Yell.

Yes--we can support Chelsea SW3 and surrounding streets, subject to access and schedule. If you're planning house removals for a particular date, it helps to book early so we can confirm vehicle size, packing requirements and the right team count. We'll also check building access rules like lift schedules, loading restrictions and any concierge requirements--so your move starts on time. For customers across London, we tailor the plan to real conditions, not generic assumptions. If you share your move date, approximate size and any tricky items, we'll schedule your removals quote and recommend the best time window for a smooth handover.

We take safety seriously because it protects you, your building and your belongings. Before moving day, we'll talk through stairs, lift access, door widths and any parking bay limitations so we can plan a realistic carry route. Where there's a high-risk area--like narrow stairwells, glass-fronted units or delicate finishes--we add extra protection with blankets, corner guards and careful placement. On arrival, we confirm the setup and then work in a safe sequence to avoid blocking exits or creating hazards. If you need help coordinating lift timing or want advice on what to pack yourself, just ask. Call our London team today and we'll help you move with confidence.
